What are Empower braces?

Empower braces work a little differently than traditional metal braces. They have small brackets affixed to each of your teeth and a metal archwire running through them, just like conventional braces, but are quite a bit smaller, and don’t require any elastics to straighten your smile.

That’s because Empower braces are self-ligating. That means the brackets have special clips to hold the archwire in place instead of elastics. This improves the accuracy of your treatment, and helps prevent staining that elastics are known for.

How do Empower braces work?

Because self-ligating braces don’t use elastics, it allows the archwire to naturally slide through your brackets as your teeth adjust, reducing friction and speeding up treatment times.

Since self-ligating braces are self adjusting, having treatment with Empower braces greatly reduces the number of adjustment appointments you need during treatment. To help move your smile into alignment, we use light, shape-memory wires to add targeted pressure to your smile.

Types of Empower braces

At Impression Orthodontics, you can choose from two types of Empower braces: Empower metal braces, and Empower clear braces. This gives you the option of traditional metal brackets, or discreet ceramic brackets that blend in with the colour of your teeth.

Both Empower metal and clear braces share the same great efficiency, accuracy, and comfort when it comes to shaping your smile.
